Mo, Sarah and I went to a really cool bar in the East Village last night. It’s called PDT (Please Don’t Tell) and what makes it so unique is that its a “secret” bar. You enter through a phone booth that is inside of a hot dog shop called Crif Dogs. You go into the phone booth, close the door behind you, then pick up the phone and hit the “dial out” button, after a few moments the wall adjacent to the entrance of the phone booth opens and you are greeted by a hostess and brought to an available table or and open bar stool. The bar has an old school speak-easy feel to it, there are no windows, and its very dark and intimate. To top it all off they have a great selection of specialty drinks (at a reasonable price, $13) and a great selection of micro brews (only $5 a pint). I had a drink with cognac, ginger beer, and some other special ingredients, which was amazing. Another great thing is that if you get hungry you can order hot dogs and fries from the place next door.
I will absolutely go back to this place, and I would suggest it to anyone looking for a unique experience while in the city. The phone number to PDT can be found here, you should prob call ahead for reservations so you don’t have to wait for a table.
